The Slippery Rock Area Baseball Association Spring Season is organized into the following divisions.
A player who possesses advanced skill for his age division may move up to the next division one year early at the discretion of the child’s parents. However, the child must possess enough skill to allow for the player’s safety and proper development. If you wish for your child to move up before the age requirement, the system requires that you register the child in his/her current age division and then to email [email protected] to arrange for the move up.
T-Ball DIVISION
Ages 4-6 on August 31 of current year
Purpose
The purpose at this level is to develop hand-eye coordination, instruct basic skills and concepts of baseball.
Format
This will be a T-Ball League. Players hit off a "T" and coaches pitches (when child’s hitting ability allows), no stealing or bunting, no play-offs or All Star teams. Rules are designed to increase player confidence.
PeeWee DIVISION (8U)
Ages 7-8 on August 31 of current year
Purpose
The purpose at this level is to instruct basic skills and concepts of baseball while transitioning to some competitiveness.
Format
The PeeWee League is all coach pitch with no stealing or bunting. Rules and strategies are designed to continue to increase player confidence.
MINOR DIVISION (10U)
Ages 9-10 on August 31 of current year
Purpose
Instruct basic, intermediate, and advanced skills, and increase competitiveness.
Format
Players pitch, limited stealing, bunting allowed. 10 players to a side. Rules and strategies allow for all skill levels to learn and enjoy the game.
MAJOR DIVISION (12U)
Ages 11-12 on August 31 of the current year
Purpose
Instruct intermediate skills and advanced skills, review basic skills, increased competitiveness.
Format
Players pitch, full stealing, 9 players to a side. Players’ skill levels range from developing to advanced.
PONY DIVISION (14U)
Ages 13-14 on April 30th of the current year
Purpose
Instruct intermediate to advanced skills, higher level of competitiveness
Format
13 and 14 year-old leagues are combined. Baseball rules apply.
COLT DIVISION (16U)
Ages 15-17 on April 30th of the current year
Purpose
Baseball at an advanced level
Format
No guaranteed playing time, highly competitive
